The multiplayer side of minecraft allows people to have fun playing together with close friends or random people. The game has a couple popular servers that people play on.

Hypixel

     30,000-75,000 players are constantly online.
      Hypixel has an expansive list of games which are more enjoyable than the games on other minigame servers and also has more which in turn draws in the largest playerbase of any server.

Minehut

     2,000-8,000 players are playing on here at any given time.
      Minehut is pretty much just a server hosting site except that when you make a server on Minehut, you're more likely to have players play your server.

Cubecraft

     1,500-6,000 players are constantly online.
      Even though its another minigame server and has only a few minigames, the games are high quality and the server got traction at a really good time which allowed it to have the playerbase it does today.

Mineplex

     1,000-6,000 players are constantly online.
      Even though its another minigame server and has only a few minigames, the games were high quality and the server got traction at a really good time which allowed it to have the largest playerbase at one point. After downsizing due to the rise of hypixel, the playerbase is much smaller.

There are only 4 servers that have playercounts that regularly stay over 1,000 players.
